Our very first fashion show was in March 2017 at the African Fashion Week Edmonton. It was an amazing experience to have models walk down the runway in our outfits and have such excellent feedback on the colors and cuts MKCurvy brought to the runway. Representing Africa in a global context is pretty darned amazing! It’s an integral part of the dream that birthed MKCurvy.
It also was pretty awesome as well to be validated as an African design house. As a fledgling designer, it’s always very humbling when someone asks if you’re a designer. After turning around to make sure it’s not the person behind you being asked, you kinda take a mental bow, mentally puff out your chest and finally, you vocalize and in a humble enough voice answer yes, I am ☺.
